If you do take good care of the 1.6 HDi, there is no reason for it to not give you a consistently enjoyable driving experience. Almost certainly it has a DPF - open the bonnet, look down the front of the engine, if there it is a big lump in the exhaust under the turbo with pipes going to it. Any oil that meets the spec - it MUST be a low ash/SAPS oil - will be OK.
The good news.if you DO have a 2.5L (B2500) engine, then this engine is a NON interference engine - which means, if the cambelt did snap, your engine would not suffer any internal damage, compared to interference engines.
